The Beyond Blessed Pantry is a staple in the Baraboo community. It supports more than 3,000 households with food every month. And just in time to continue serving those in need, the pantry finds support for a new home in Baraboo. The remarkable turnaround is landing the pantry at 1101 Lake Street.

What started as a potential relocation to Reedsburg in mid-December took an unexpected turn when a last-minute opportunity in Baraboo emerged. Shannon Howley, the pantry’s executive director shares the whirlwind journey.

“We were planning to move to Reedsburg on December 13th, and by the 14th, we had the chance to explore a building right here in Baraboo,” Howley explains. “We decided to make one last-ditch attempt to stay in town, but we weren’t sure we’d have the financial resources to purchase the building.”

But community members stepped-in with support for the pantry – which has been supporting the community for more than seven years. Howley points out many generous donors, including Scott Construction in Lake Delton, are the reason the pantry could fully buy the building by mid-January.

“We went from thinking we were leaving town to owning our building in less than a week,” Howley says. “It’s been an amazing journey.

The move to the new location brings excitement and a few logistical challenges. The pantry temporarily closed to handle the move and plans to reopen during the afternoon of January 29th. Howley is urging patrons to review a new map on the pantry’s website to help ensure smooth operations. A key change includes the request to not line up before 3 pm in an effort to avoid blocking traffic and disturbing the neighborhood.

“We want to make sure we’re not just serving the people who need us but also being respectful of our neighbors,” Howley emphasizes.

The Beyond Blessed Pantry will continue to be a beacon of hope for those in the Baraboo area with a permanent home to continue its mission.
