GREEN BAY, WI- (WGBW) — On Thursday, the Green Bay Packers Foundation awarded grants to over 140 charitable organizations, nonprofits, and school districts in Northeast Wisconsin.
Throughout the state of Wisconsin, 398 nonprofits received a total of $1.5 million in grants. The recipients were honored at a luncheon at Lambeau Field this week.
This year’s grant cycle focused on arts and culture, athletics, and education.
Chairman of the Green Bay Packers Foundation Wilson Jones said that as a community-owned organization, this is a way to give back to the community that supports the Packers.
“For over 100 years, communities around the state have supported us,” said Jones. “So it’s a way of honoring that commitment.”
The Green Bay Packers Foundation was created in 1986 to ensure charitable contributions. Since then, it has distributed more than $23 million to charities throughout the state.
